Music — club nights, gigs and wilderness festivals

Poem I lights up the Kuhmo night in a new way: electronic techno in a wilderness cabin, acoustic gigs on an island, DJ sets under the starry sky and bold collaboration with local artists. Music is storytelling — and in Taruma the stories travel along both the 4/4 beat and the strings of the kantele. We have our own DJ veteran DJ HOFFI since 1992 and a newer experimenter NEITO, who bring both the vinyl guard and mystical bedroom-studio sounds to Kuhmo's nights.

In partnership with Naurava Pöytä catering, we make sure no one goes hungry at our music events — and no flavour is missing.

When the gig ends, the party continues at the table

Naurava Pöytä is Koe Kainuu's catering service that brings Greek-Kainuu fusion flavours to Taruma's music events: grilled pork skewers, tzatziki, bread cheese salad and Greek-style orange desserts. No more the same pancakes and grill sausages at every festival.

For Taruma, Naurava Pöytä is not just catering — it's the flavour testimony of music events. After club nights the cottage chef conjures desserts, backstage at festivals Mike's menu keeps the artists warm, and Taruma members always get member-priced offers.

flavour combinations from the Aegean to Kuhmo
My first contact with the restaurant business came as a teenager, when I worked in my family's restaurant in Greece. Now I want to charm Finns with my homeland's food.

From the Aegean to Kuhmo — flavour guide for music events

Michail-Angelos "Mike" Tzoumas, who moved from Greece to Finland, has lived in Finland for 16 years. Restaurant work is a family tradition — Mike stepped into the kitchen for the first time as a teenager in his family's Greek restaurant, and the passion for creating flavours has travelled with him since.

Today Mike is part of Koe Kainuu Adventures and runs the Naurava Pöytä catering service as well as the Cottage Chef service in Kuhmo and surrounding areas. Combining music and food feels natural: both bring people together, awaken memories and create stories. To Taruma's club nights and festivals Mike brings the same relaxed warmth with which he handles a cabin grill hut or a family celebration menu.

No own venue — but you'll find suggestions for good Kuhmo event spaces when you ask Mike.

⊹ Taruma tribe's musicians ⊹

Two makers — two ways to make noise

In Taruma's tribe, music lives in two forms: as experienced vinyl guard and as fresh studio experiment. You'll hear both at Kuhmo's nights — when Taruma plays, it also plays itself.

NEITO
Kerttu's laid-back music project

"Kerttu, who loves electronic music, makes her own productions in FL Studio when inspiration strikes. Making music is a fun hobby for me, and I really don't have any goals with it. The main thing is to have fun.

My own genre is still being searched, but the nicest thing is to make mystical and locally-sounding hums and beats. I've tried putting kantele in a track for example, next I want to try sampling runo-song!"

DJ HOFFI
Mika's DJ profile · since 1992

Mika played his first DJ gigs in 1992 and has organised techno and electronic music events for just as long. The sets have travelled from Finland to Berlin, and the most recent performances have taken him to, among other places, the Kainuu Cultural Gala at Kuhmo-talo on 12 December 2025.

Styles: Gabber, Hardcore, Trance, Psy, Tekkno, Acid, Deep and Ambient. Vinyl records are especially close to his heart. On the band side Mika also plays in the Mighty Rubber Boots band.

⊹ Green sound ⊹

Music plays on a green foundation

Taruma's digital backbone runs in Mika's Sollertis company datacenters in Kainuu and Savo. The websites, event infrastructure and Retro Game House collections run on energy-efficient hardware whose cooling uses winter's cold air. 160 hectares of own forest in Kuhmo and consistent recycling keep the footprint light — so that Kuhmo's night music can still play a hundred years from now.

What does Poem I offer?

Techno nights in the wilderness

Electronic music in places where it hasn't been played before. Forest ravers, lean-to clubs and intimate DJ nights held in wilderness cabins — somewhere between the 4/4 beat and the starry sky.

Club nights in central Kuhmo

Relaxed city club with local and visiting DJs. Mixed nights with room to dance, chat and meet new people — Naurava Pöytä takes care of the evening's sustenance.

Acoustic gigs and jam nights

Small gigs in small places. Performances by local musicians, open jams and nights where the audience is part of the performance — not just spectators.

Wilderness festivals

Multi-day events in the middle of nature. Music, food, sauna and stars — Taruma's festivals combine genres and generations.

Culinary gig food

Naurava Pöytä's Greek-Kainuu menu for club nights, VIP areas and artists' backstage. Alongside music, enjoy tzatziki and bread cheese salad — not something to reminisce about later.

Collaborations with locals

Alongside Kuhmo Chamber Music, Sommelo and other established festivals — not competing but complementing. We build the local music scene together.
